Jane Mitchell is currently a Curriculum Coach at Normal Park Museum Magnet’s Upper School, Grades 4-8. She focuses on supporting teachers with their numeracy and literacy curriculum and lessons through planning, modeling, co-teaching, observation of lessons and post-observation meetings to debrief the process. Specifically, Reader’s & Writer’s Workshop, Guided Reading, the varied components of Hamilton County’s Math curriculum including Best Practices, Singapore Math. She also supports teachers with the analysis of data to plan instruction, the RTI process, Intervention, and Clubs.

Previously, Jane Mitchell was a Reading Intervention Specialist, Grades K-5, Normal Park Museum Magnet, 2005-2009. Supported below grade level readers and writers in small groups three to five times per week. Trained other interventionists in Guided Reading strategies and techniques. Administered DIBELS & QRI-IV to grades K-5.

4th grade teacher, Normal Park Museum Magnet, 2002-2004. Designed Module Units using Understanding by Design for Science & Social Studies including connections to 7 local museums as well as integrating the arts, writing and reading.  Created Guided Reading(Jan Richardson) & Writer’s Workshop(Lucy Calkins) lessons for small group and mini-lessons. Implemented Everyday Math Curriculum and supplemented when necessary. Coordinated implementation of Word Journeys spelling curriculum.
