Ms. Blake

Welcome to 8th Grade!

My name is Katherine Blake, and I am thrilled to be teaching 8th grade Language Arts again this year! This is my third year in 8th grade, but my eighth year as a Normal Park teacher. I feel very fortunate to work with an amazing team of teachers.  We are committed to doing whatever it takes to help you have a successful year. If you ever have any questions or concerns about 8th grade, please don’t hesitate to bring them to our attention!

About Me:

After graduating from Berry College in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, I immediately began my career as a 5th grade teacher in Paulding County, Georgia. I moved to Chattanooga in 2009, where I earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Specialist focus and a Middle Grades endorsement at UTC. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of positions, including tutoring deaf students at the Georgia School for the Deaf and teaching English to adult refugees in New Haven, CT. I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 5th grade, K-5 Music, K-5 Reading Intervention, and 8th grade English. I am fortunate to attend NPMM each day with my two children, Sam (8th grade) and Eden (7th grade). I love to hang out with friends around our fire pit, read, run, travel, hike, and camp.
