Ms. Blake

Welcome to 8th Grade!

My name is Katherine Blake, and I am thrilled to be teaching 8th grade Language Arts again this year! This is my fourth year in 8th grade, but my ninth year as a Normal Park teacher. I work with an amazing team of teachers, and we are committed to doing whatever it takes to help students experience success in 8th grade and leave ready for high school. If you ever have any questions or concerns about 8th grade, please don’t hesitate to bring them to our attention!

About Me:

After graduating from Berry College in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, I immediately began my career as a 5th grade teacher in Paulding County, Georgia. I moved to Chattanooga in 2009, where I earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Specialist focus and a Middle Grades endorsement at UTC. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of positions, including tutoring deaf students at the Georgia School for the Deaf and teaching English to adult refugees in New Haven, CT. I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 5th grade, K-5 Music, K-5 Reading Intervention, and 8th grade English. I am fortunate to be surrounded by supportive family and friends, two amazing kids, and a loving dog named Rosie. I love to hang out with friends around our fire pit, read, run, travel, hike, and camp.

Thanks for stopping by my page!
