My name is Kerri Porter. I was born and raised right here Chattanooga, TN and it will always be considered home to me! I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in May of 2017 with my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and endorsements in middle grades and special education. I recently just got married to my husband, Trevor, this summer on June 23rd and we also just built our very first home in Harrison!

I knew from a very early age that I wanted to become a teacher! My teaching career started the day after I graduated high school when I started working as a part time Pre-K teacher at a privately owned day school in Ooltewah, TN. I worked there throughout 4 years of college. This job helped shape my love for teaching young children even more than I already did. Teaching quickly became my passion and I feel so lucky to have a job that I absolutely love!!

The very first day of my last semester as a senior in college, I got the news that I was going to be placed at Normal Park Museum Magnet school in first grade with Mrs. Lafferty for my student teaching placement. I was so nervous but the second I walked through the doors I felt welcomed and wanted. I spent 15 weeks alongside Mrs. Lafferty & the rest of the first grade team & loved every minute of it!! I fell in love with all that the school had to offer and the closeness of the community where everybody knows everybody! I knew how much I wanted to be a part of the Normal park family and when the opportunity arose I landed what I consider my dream job!! I feel so honored to be starting my second year at such a wonderful school with my amazing Pre-K team! I look forward to meeting new families, students, and build new relationships with the awesome staff here at Normal Park!
