The Hunter Museum features art produced with a variety of mediums from the early Colonial Period to the present day. The historic mansion and contemporary buildings sit atop a bluff overlooking the Tennessee River. Some of the featured artists include Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt and Thomas Cole.

The Tennessee Aquarium contains both fresh water and salt water tanks, holding a variety of aquatic life from around the world. Students may visit penguins, sharks, seahorses, or the butterfly garden. The Tennessee Aquarium does not only provide students with the opportunity to discover nature, but they may also explore our local history through the art and artifacts surrounding the building.

The Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center provides students with many outdoor classroom experiences. Students are able to study local animals including wolves, snakes, owls and more. Different ecosystems may be discovered through the wetlands, forests, pond and creek on the property. A variety of native plants, flowers, and trees may be studied. Other features include an authentic Cherokee cabin and the Discovery Treehouse.

The Creative Discovery Museum is a hands-on children's museum in which students may experience simple machines, prehistoric life, force and motion, music and art.  Students are able to extend their classroom learning through hands on activities such as digging for dinosaur bones or experimenting with different types of energy.

The Chattanooga Zoo allows students to learn about animals from many parts of the world including Africa, South America, Asia and North America. Some of the zoo's animals include chimpanzees, snow leopards, jaguars, turtles and prairie dogs.  Artifacts from different areas of the world in each section of the zoo provide students with the opportunity to discover other cultures.

The Bessie Smith Cultural Center documents the African American experience through a variety of exhibits. While parts of the museum are dedicated to local African American history, other exhibits explain African art and culture through authentic artifacts and photographs.
