Introduction

Fourth Grade will be an amazing year for your child! They will explore history, experiment with science, and put on their best performance in our grade level play. This year we have a lot of great Learning Expeditions planned for your child. We cannot wait for another amazing year at Normal Park!!!

Module 1: “National Treasures: Becoming America”

In our first module, students will learn about early explorers, colonization, and the events that led us to the Revolutionary War.

Module 2: “MythBusters”

We will become experts in Astronomy, Properties of Light, Matter, Force and Motion, Electricity, and Magnets.

Module 3: “American Progress: Progress for All?”

In our third module, we will pick back up after the Revolutionary War. We will dig deep into the development of our government system and the struggles of our independence. This module will be full of historic people, places, and events as we face hardships moving and expanding out west.

Module 4: “Increase our Green”

This module picks up where we left off in module two. With all our advancements we have placed a strain on our environment. We will study the metamorphosis of macroinvertebrates, examine the differences between plant and animal cells, expand our understanding of the water cycle, see how animals have adapted over time, and discuss human impact on our world. We are all connected and our choices now will impact our future. Students will discover that “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
