Band, Chorus, PE & Dance are 30 minute classes.  All other classes are one hour.

Here is information from our amazing 4th grade room parent!!!

Introduction

Fourth Grade will be an amazing year for your child! They will explore history, experiment with science, and put on their best performance in our grade level play. This year we have a lot of great Learning Expeditions planned for your child. We cannot wait for another amazing year at Normal Park!!!

Module 1: “ Becoming America”

In our first module, students will explore the history of America from 1700-1830, leaders, and the impact on the creation of our nation. 

Module 2: “MythBusters”

We will become experts in Astronomy, Properties of Light, Matter, Force and Motion, Waves, and Magnets. 

Module 3: “A Nation Divided”

In our third module, students will explore the emergence of the US industrial economy, the growth of slavery in the south, and westward expansion. They will get to know the events that led to the Civil War, focusing on the impact of slavery, the abolition movement, and the major differences of the states.  

Module 4: “Increase our Green”

This module picks up where we left off in module two. With all our advancements we have placed a strain on our environment. We will study the metamorphosis of macroinvertebrates, examine the differences between plant and animal cells, expand our understanding of the water cycle, see how animals have adapted over time, and discuss human impact on our world. We are all connected and our choices now will impact our future. Students will discover that “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
