Anna Rawlston- 3rd grade teacher

Hi NPMM!
My name is Anna Rawlston. I was born and raised in the Scenic City, growing up on Signal Mountain, and attending high school at Red Bank. I earned a BS in Early Childhood Education from UTC, where I met my husband, Keith. We bought a home on the North Shore ten years ago and have built a little family together. We have two wonderful sons, who keep us very busy. Chances are we’ve seen each other around!

Teaching Career
I’ve been teaching for HCDE since the 2009-2010 school year. I spent this past year as a reading interventionist here at Normal Park Lower, but my previous 9 years were spent at Battle Academy. There I taught Third Grade for my first five years and Second Grade for the four following years. After all those years of teaching and learning at Battle Academy, and lots of deliberation, I decided it was time to make my mark here at “home,” in my community. So last year, my oldest son and I made the move to Normal Park. Little brother gets to join in the fun this year in PreK. We were welcomed with open arms and have had a great first year here. I have had the opportunity to get to know the school, staff and many students, but as the year wrapped up it was again time to make a change with a return to teaching third grade.
I’m so excited to be back in my own classroom with my own students. I cannot wait to get to know you all and see how much we can grow throughout our year together!
